Design, Development and Implementation of Madrid City Council's Corporate Geographic Information System

Business Problem

The objective of Madrid City Council is to serve all the city council's areas in their needs for geographic information and services.

Solution

The system comes into being with the idea of defining and introducing a system architecture to cope with the GIS needs of the different areas comprising Madrid City Council, which had different, independent GIS solutions based on different GIS systems on the market. By putting this information system, the city council has a single GIS platform to manage, consult and use georeferenced information.

This new corporate information system is made up of a technological infrastructure and protocols or procedures making spatial information available and providing access to it, improving and expanding the functionality and efficiency of existing departmental geographic applications.

Benefits

This system is a basis for the construction of services to citizens with the aim of following the strategic lines of the e-Administration project: citizen-oriented administration, interconnected administration, integrated administration and efficient and quality administration.
